Fortnite Legendary Series The Visitor: Intentions Unknown

Here I am, going back to the beginning of the Fortnite Legendary Series line by Jazwares as it nears its untimely end at the hands of Hasbro taking over the license for 6"+ figures. Today I'll be taking a look at the Fortnite Legendary Series 1/12 scale The Visitor!

Aesthetics:

Legendary Series Visitor is honestly one of my favourite looking figures in the line. The molded details are spot on, with the figure being cast in bluish-grey, brown and grey plastic, along with a soft plastic belt and torso tube attached. The main body suit is a bluish grey, and the armour on top of it is painted in a lovely metallic blue that is picked out in silver and brown, along with some black detail and silver wear. There's also a signature red sigil on each of his shoulder pads. His boots are coloured brown, with some silver armoured bits and dark straps. On his left forearm brace is also a shiny silver blade, although it's tip is dulled due to toy safety standards. Overall, he's brilliantly shiny and extremely well detailed for the price point, and fits the theme of The Seven well.

Articulation:

The Visitor's articulation is about par for the course for 1/12 figures nowadays, although that doesn't mean much against him given the standards of articulation nowadays. The Visitor's articulation includes:
  • Hinged ball joint at the head
  • Articulated shoulder pads
  • About 135' hinge at the shoulder, along with a 360' swivel
  • Somewhat limited butterfly shoulders
  • Double jointed elbows, slightly over 90'
  • Hinge and swivel at the wrists.
  • Hinged fingers (which tend to be a bit of a pain when trying to get him to hold accessories)
  • Mid-torso ball joint
  • Waist swivel, limited by the belt
  • 90' outward leg movement, plus some back-and-forth
  • Thigh swivel
  • Double jointed knees, but can't quite kick his own butt
  • Shin swivel
  • Hinge and swivel at the ankle (although my right ankle is extremely loose)
  • Toe hinge

Accessories and Features:

The Visitor includes a whole load of accessories, as is the norm for Jazwares Fortnite Legendary Series (albeit sadly not the industry standard for this pricepoint). The figure comes with four alternate faceplates, with the default one (Crosshair), a smiley face (Smiles), a grid (Visualiser) and a weird one (Mandibles), The Visitor's back bling, Offworld Rig, which is painted in that magnificent metallic paint and has a soft black cape, as well as some copper tubing and a painted symbol on the flap above the vent. He also includes the Cliffhanger harvesting tool, a Legendary Assault Rifle (or Scar), A med kit and a grenade.

Comparisons:

The Visitor stands at about 6.3" (or 16cm) which is right about the normal height for 1/12 scale figures. His articulation is very well implemented (apart from his loose ankle) which is good for any figure.

For comparisons, here we have The Visitor standing alongside some of his fellow Legendary Series figures, Jonesy and Beef Boss.

And here he is with some other action figures, 1/12 scale Marvel Legends Gamerverse Captain America and Jazwares Fortnite 1/18 (4") Drift.

And finally here he is with some robot figures, Earthrise Leader Optimus Prime and HGUC Gundam RX-78-2 .

Final Verdict:

Overall, I really enjoy this figure with it's great articulation, glamorously shiny paint and awesome accessories (that smiley face is just too good), and I feel bad for dismissing this line when it first came out as I wasn't really into any sort of 6" figures. Honestly I'm quite sad to see the line go post-2021 but I'm glad to see it's going out with a bang, given the amount of figures being released in the next few months, but I'm also really excited to see what happens next year when the license transfers over to Hasbro, but I'm sure they'll do justice to the in-game characters.

Score: 7/10
